Wednesday, June 30   10:30am-12:00pm
Impressionistic Acrylic Painting
We'll study the American Impressionists in the Albrecht-Kemper Collection, go outside to the water garden for some sketching, and come back to the studio to create our masterpieces on canvas board.
(Please note: due to the recent extremely high temperatures, this class has been altered so that the students will not go outside, the class will now be held entirely inside.)

Thursday, July 1    10:30am-12:00pm
Personal Treasure Boxes
Do you love to collect special items to record your experiences and memories? Then, come to this class to make a decorative place to keep them safe. We'll use a combination of media and techniques to create a box that's a treasure in itself!

Friday, July 2    10:30am-12:00pm
Early Art Styles: Cave & Sand Painting
We'll explore both prehistoric cave painting and American Indian sand painting over the years. Then we'll create our own miniature "cave wall" painting and sand painting on "deer hide".

Wednesday, July 7    10:30am-12:00pm
Colossal Kites
Kites have been used for centuries as measuring tools, symbols of good fortune, for weather experiments, and just for fun. We'll create a standard Delta (triangular) kite that you can take out and test fly this summer.

Thursday, July 8    10:30am-12:00pm
Bookmaking
Learn about different styles of bookmaking and then create two books to take home and fill with your own sketches, photos, or thoughts. We'll make both an accordion-fold book and a miniature journal.

Friday, July 9    10:30am-12:00pm
Dreamcatchers
Learn about American Indian culture and the history of the Dreamcatcher. Then create your own to take home with jute, beads, and feathers.
