Colored Pencil Workshop with Wanda Taylor
April 28 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm$105
Play with Pastel Paper!
With 20+ years of experience in colored pencil, Wanda will teach techniques in colored pencil. Basic drawing tips include composition, use of complementary color, creating texture on the page, blending, and personal style. This workshop will also be open to those that want to do their own projects with Wanda. This course takes an adult-focused teaching approach; all skill levels are welcome. Parents of younger artists should call with questions to see if this would be a good fit.
Special note from Wanda: “The point of the workshop will be to work with Pastelmat pastel paper. It comes in a bunch of yummy colors and I am having a great time working on it. It only takes about half of the layers that you would typically need and it grabs the pigment beautifully. I have found even with the dark paper I don’t have to do a white layer first, just right to the color. Also you can put light colors over the dark colors! It is amazing. It is so much faster to work with than water color paper, AND you can get it wet, like with watercolor pencils.”
In-person class sizes are limited due to social distancing rules. If you would like to join us via Zoom from the comfort of your home, we now offer this option. For the safety of staff and visitors the museum is requiring everyone to wear a face mask at all times when inside the museum. Participants will receive an email with a supply list, and reference and process pictures to print at your convenience. Lunch will be provided for the in-person participants.
Participants have the option to purchase special Pastelmat pastel paper (9″ x 12”) for $5 per sheet. It comes in dark grey, light grey, dark blue and light blue, maroon, yellow, brown, Sienna, white and green. Bring $5 in cash per sheet you are interested in using.
