Big, almost monumental, one-of-a-kind vessels built from clay slabs that were rolled by hand are the focus of Dale Hartley’s work.  She was born and raised in the Flint Hills and resides in Saffordville, Kansas.  Viewing Hartley’s work, one can definitely get the sense of spaciousness from the prairie and the simplicity of the landscape of the Flint Hills. The European Connection

Ival Lawhon Retrospective: St. Joseph and More

Ival Lawhon was a photographer for the St. Joseph News Press for 31 years, but his work as a photojournalist started before that. Ival was a decorated War Veteran, he taught photography at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, and he loved traveling.  He retired from the News Press in 2008, but did not get a chance to enjoy his time off.  He died in October, 2009 and that same month he was inducted into the Missouri Photojournalism Hall…
