The Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art is saddened by the death of longtime supporter R. Crosby Kemper, Jr., who died in California on Jan. 2, 2014 at the age of 86. Kemper was a true visionary whose passions were art and acquisitions.  His impact on the arts and the Albrecht-Kemper was enormous and without his generosity, St. Joseph would not have the arts presence that it does today. Drawing at a very young age Kwanza’s work was first recognized by the staff at the AKMA when he was a college student at MWSU. Justin Marable: Social Landscapes

Justin Marable was raised in Robinson, Kansas, a small farm town. This inspired him to draw on geography and history for his work. His contemporary works are primarily silk screens that use bright colors and subjects that are relatable to the Midwestern viewer. His work has been displayed across the Midwest in many galleries and art spaces. He currently resides in Topeka, Kansas with his wife and children.
