September 16th – November 6th, 2016
The AKMA continues to add to its permanent collection through the generosity of donors and select purchases. This exhibition will highlight pieces added to the museum’s holdings since 2013. The work includes additions to our body of work by regional artists Arthur Kraft, Joe Jones, Aaron Pyle, Vincent Campanella, and John De Martelly. Recent exhibitors Julie Hansen, Phillip Geller, and John Thein donated examples of their pieces following their shows. The exhibition will also include work from two large donations of contemporary Western and Native American printmakers that are significant additions to the narrative of American art, some of whom were not previously represented in the AKMA collection. These artists include Paul Pletka, Kevin Red Star, Earl Biss, Woody Gwyn, Michael Coleman, James Bama, and Randy Lee Whitehorse.
The public is invited to an Opening Reception Friday, September 16th from 4-7 pm. There is no charge to attend the Opening.
