June 10 – September 11, 2016
Lana Cease is a realist watercolor artist whose exhibition will focus on the everyday objects that can be both overlooked and sources of strong memories. These objects, such as bottlecaps, marbles, and costume jewelry often conjure memories of Midwestern childhoods and simple pleasures. She writes that she is “intrigued by small, quirky details both in everyday objects and human beings alike. I believe that you can find beauty in almost any object or person when looked at in the proper perspective and in a new light. I want to show the viewer how to observe something they see every single day in a unique and unexpected way.” A resident of Maryville, Missouri, Lana has participated in the Annual Membership Show for years, always bringing home ribbons in her category. This is her first solo exhibition.
The public is invited to meet the artist at an Opening Reception on Friday, June 10th from 4-7 pm. There is no charge to attend the Opening.
