Manager – Marketing and Communications

The Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic professional to join our team as the Marketing/Communications Manager. In this role you will be responsible for developing, implementing and measuring the success of multiple communication plans.

The marketing/communications manager is an important part of the team, and is the face of the museum in the community. You will work closely with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors to fulfill the museum’s mission.


  • Collaborate with Executive Director to develop digital and traditional marketing strategies
  • Build/Maintain annual marketing/communications calendar
  • Brand Management: Work with staff and volunteers to ensure creative assets and messaging conform to AKMA’s branding standards
  • Manage digital initiatives, including paid digital advertising across multiple platforms
  • Maintain membership database (CRM responsibilities)
  • Social Media Management
  • Media Relations
  • Content development
  • Copywriting including proofing/editing
  • Email Campaigns
  • Direct Mail 
  • Conduct Website Updates (WordPress)
  • Keep abreast of current trends in marketing and specifically social media management
  • Willing to work additional or irregular hours as needed and allowed by local regulations
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism or related field
  • 1-3 years marketing, public relations, advertising and/or communications experience
  • Excellent verbal/written skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of related experience
  • Art background
  • Graphic design skills
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator
  • Google AdWords certified
