August 6: Bollywood Dance with Shaina / Dance Instruction
Bollywood is the name for a hugely popular movie industry in India. India has the largest movie industry in the world in terms of movies made and tickets sold per year. These movies are known for their drama, romance, and song/ dance sequences which all come together to tell a beautiful story. Bollywood films are watched all over the globe and their trends have made an influence on many western artists. Bollywood dance performances have been featured on shows like “So You Think You Can Dance,” “Dancing with the Stars,” “Got Talent,” and classes are offered in most major cities around the globe.
Come attend a Bollwood FREE presentation then learn a Bollywood routine from dance Instructor/ Choreographer, Shaina Kotwani! She has been performing Bollywood dance for 22 years of her life and has 12 years of experience in Bollywood dance choreography/ instruction. Her work has been featured at countless events in many states (cultural festivals/ shows, fundraising events, private events, university events and weddings).
Shaina started the first Bollywood dance courses ever offered in St. Joseph and is excited to dance Bollywood with you all! No dance experience is necessary to attend. The presentation is FREE and the Cost is $10 to participate in the class. Call the museum or sign-up online below.
August 20: Solar Eclipse Brunch
The public is welcome to enjoy a “heavenly” brunch at the AKMA Café prepared by Chef Jason Thomas on Sunday, August 20th from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. Bloody Marys, Mimosas, and other special Cosmic Concoctions will be served. Cost is $25/person or $40/couple and Reservations are suggested. Call the museum or sign-up online below.
August 27: Susanne Lehr Lecture on Robert Wilson
To celebrate the AKMA’s recent acquisition of a portrait of Senator Robert Wilson by George Caleb Bingham, local historian Susanne Lehr will present a lecture about the life and times of the St. Joseph leader.
