Norman Akers is a Lawrence, Kansas-based artist who explores issues of identity and culture, including Osage mythos, place, and the dynamics of personal and cultural transformation.
Akers holds a BFA in Painting from the Kansas City Art Institute and a MFA degree in Painting from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He is currently an associate professor in the Department of Visual Art at the University of Kansas. Akers is an enrolled member of the Osage Nation.
An opening reception will be held for this exhibition on Friday, September 16, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Opening receptions are free and open to the public. A cash bar will be available with light refreshments.
