Free Museum After Hours

  • Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art 2818 Frederick Avenue Saint Joseph, MO, 64506 United States (map)

Step back into the Roaring Twenties at the Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art for our monthly After Hours on Tuesday, July 28, from 4:00–7:00 PM. This free community event is centered around an evening of local history, Prohibition, and 1920s-inspired fun.

The featured presentation, "Prohibition & Progress: St. Joseph in the 1920s," will be given by local historian Sarah Elder from 5:00–6:00 PM in the museum auditorium. Elder will explore one of the most exciting decades in St. Joseph's history, highlighting the optimism and growth that led to the construction of landmarks like City Hall and the Missouri Theater, the development of the Parkway System, and other cultural milestones before the Great Depression changed the city's course.

Before and after the presentation, guests can enjoy Prohibition-era grub and drinks (dinner available for $8), create a themed art project, and stop by the museum's historic speakeasy for a 1920s photo opportunity. Whether you're a history buff or simply looking for a unique night out, After Hours offers an engaging evening of art, history, and community!
