Free Museum After Hours

If it’s hard to get to the museum during our regular hours, this is the moment for you! Bring the whole family for a FREE after-hours event featuring kids’ activities, a chance to see our new exhibitions, enjoy an artistic activity, grab a drink at the cash bar with signature cocktails, and much more!

We always host an artist trading card swap at After Hours. Download a set of Trading Cards here that you can print out at home, or swing by the museum and pick up a pre-printed set.

6pm: Piano Performance by Dr. Po-Sim Head

FREE and open to the public! No reservation necessary, just come as you are!

This Month, Dr. Po-Sim Head, aka Fanny, will be performing a piano program including lesser-known pieces by Peruvian composers Francisco Pulgar-Vidal, Sadiel Cuentas, and Jimmy López Bellido, showcasing nationalistic and folkloric characteristics. It also features Sonata Andina by American composer Gabriela Lena Frank, which incorporates Andean musical elements in four movements.
Dr. Po-Sim Head is a dedicated musicologist and pianist who is passionate about discovering and sharing the works of lesser-known musicians, particularly from Latin America. She has recorded several albums featuring the music of Peruvian composer Francisco Pulgar-Vidal and Ecuadorian composer Blanca Layana Gomez. She has been invited to perform nationally and internationally, including as the guest performer for the Musicantes II festival in Lima, Peru. She is also a grant recipient of the Emerging Artist Grant in Hong Kong for delivering a concert featuring Latin American piano works.

Currently serving as an adjunct faculty at Missouri Western State University, Po-Sim frequently presents and performs at major regional and national conferences, including the College Music Society, Music Teachers National Association, and National Conference for Keyboard Pedagogy. Born and raised in Hong Kong, Po Sim earned her undergraduate degree in Music Composition from Hong Kong Baptist University. She then pursued her master's degrees in Piano Performance and Musicology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and her doctorate in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Kansas, where she studied under the guidance of renowned pedagogue Dr. Scott McBride Smith.

In addition to teaching and performing, Po-Sim regularly contributes articles to Interlude.hk. She owns a YouTube channel where she shares teaching resources for young piano teachers and students.
