Learn how to work in pastels with Jill Tichenor! The theme of this workshop is “creating a mood in a painting.” Join us as we explore how to craft a captivating atmosphere in a painting using the power of color, composition, and values. In this session, we'll focus on how these elements work together to evoke different emotions and set the tone of your artwork.
Students will begin by creating a series of four quick sketches or thumbnails, each designed to experiment with varying moods and atmospheres. These preliminary sketches will serve as a foundation for understanding how subtle shifts in composition, lighting, and color schemes can completely transform the mood of a piece. By the end of the session, students will gain confidence in selecting the approach that best captures the intended mood for their final painting.
This hands-on and interactive process will provide valuable insights into the creative decisions behind successful atmospheric artwork!
