Twenty year old Henry Scamurra is currently a junior at UMKC's Conservatory working toward a BM in Jazz Studies. Raised in St. Joseph, MO, Henry always gravitated towards Kansas City for artistic inspiration. He has been playing saxophone for 10 years, building his musical resume along the way. As a performer, Henry has participated in the 2020 Jazz Band of America, performed at the Coleman Hawkins Jazz Festival, and has been scheduling and performing with his own combo from the age of 15. In 2023 Henry formed a new small group named Urban Forum based in Kansas City which performs his original music.
Band Bio - "Urban Forum" has been a project of Henry's in the works for years but only recently unveiled and performing regularly. The band is composed of young forward thinking musicians local to Kansas City including Isaiah Petrie on vibraphone, Jade Harvey on drums, and Spencer Reeve on bass. They are playing original music each bringing their own passion and excitement to the stage that creates a constantly growing and evolving experience. He is going into the studio with this band in early 2024 to document his time in KC and release his first record.
